Existing DescriptionLattakia, Syria, 26 October 2020. Huge wildfires blazed in western Syria in early October and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent response is still ongoing. Around 200,000 people, meaning 40,000 families, have been affected by the fires and more than 140 villages are partly or fully burnt. Through a DREF operation, SARC aims to support 12,500 people from 2,500 families.
As a rapid response, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent has already been setting up mobile clinics and providing drinking water, food and other relief for the affected communities as well as giving a helping hand wherever needed in the badly burned villages.
