"Latest relief materials are utilized to rescue the victims of an aeroplane crash in the mountains." (League Film Library Catalogue, 1966, p. 42) This film was submitted to the special Red Cross centenary film festival in Cannes in 1963. 00:00 Opening titles. 00:36 Scenes of an aircraft in flight and landing; Red Cross rescue service packing up equipment into airplane; setting up mobile telephone operator to exchange information about the rescue operation. 02:04 Aircraft flying over mountainous area, identifies location of people in distress; call placed to nearest branch of mountain rescue service. 03:05 Local volunteers drive to location; parachutists drop from aircraft; starting ascent to reach the wounded; parachutist on site bandaging wounds. 05:20 Helicopter flies to site; climbers reach injured people and load them onto stretchers; helicopter collects injured people to take them to hospital. 08:22 People with more minor injuries are taken down the mountain on stretchers or by rope; helicopter lands and patients are taken by ambulance to hospital. 10:06 Closing titles. Original format: 16mm black and white acetate film with optical sound. Digitised in 2021. Normalised audio, applied noise reduction, reduced pop at 05.12, reduced volume of musical interludes, and brightened picture slightly before upload.
