Existing DescriptionVucjak camp, Bihac, Bosnia and Herzegovina, October 2019.
For the past four months, Vucjak on Bosnia’s north-west border with Croatia has been home to hundreds of refugees and migrants looking for a better life. No one wants to live here, but reception centres in the area are full. The Red Cross is the only humanitarian organization currently present in Vučjak.
The camp is surrounded by unexploded landmines and there are no toilets, running water or electricity. The Red Cross is doing all it can to help people in Vucjak – providing food, blankets, hygiene items and basic first aid – but a permanent solution for those living here urgently needs to be found before winter.
